SPHEROS PROJECT

For this project, we explored Spheros and practiced working with them. We were told to work with this program and create a square, triangle, maze, and modify a program already created. We practiced working with Spheros so we can become acclimated on how to use them in order to integrate them into our future classroom.

  • I used the angles:  0, 90, 180, 270

  • I used 2-second delays 

  • I added in 2 color changes

  • I added in a moo at the end

  • I used 5 color changes

  • I added in 5, 2-second delays

  • I added a stop at the end

  • I added in a mix of noises: boing, beep, chicken, sea lion, bowling pins, bird

  • Hooray sound at the end

Problem Solving Approach

For this project, I used trial and error to create my square, triangle, maze, and disco programs. Especially for the triangle and maze creations, I found myself plugging in different angles and speeds to see if it would create what I was looking for. If it was not perfect, I kept trying different angles and changing around different effects to get the shape I wanted. Trial and error allowed me to find the perfect numbers and effects I needed to make each program. 

Math Standards

  • I chose the disco ball program to edit and make my own. The changed around the original "speak", the color changes, the seconds and speed of the motor, and I added in a strobe at the end. 

  • To start, the Sphero speaks and changes color, then the motor kicks in and spins the sped that I set it to. The Sphero continues to change color and spin at the motor speed set. Lastly, the Sphero strobes a yellow color for 2 seconds and then applauses at the end. 

  • To edit a program, you go to the community feed and choose a program. Then you play around with the motions of the Sphero to edit to original and create your own program.
